My name is Daniel. I was an English teacher in Seoul, South Korea, and now I am a writer who has published three books including South Korea: Our Story by Daniel Nardini.

                           The most senior North Korean official to defect to South Korea, Thae Yong Ho, wants to make sure that his fellow countryman in North Korea know what is happening outside of North Korea and how bad the regime of Kim Jong-un is. He will work with a radio station just outside of Seoul to try and provide facts and information on how things really are in North Korea and how things really are outside that country. North Korean defectors had set up a radio station to broadcast information on conditions in North Korea and also on how things are in the world outside of North Korea. They feel that if they can freely provide such information to their fellow countrymen in North Korea they might be able to help start a change that will eventually get rid of the Kim Jong-un regime. Even with all of the controls and secret police surveillance in North Korea of ordinary citizens, the defectors believe that their message might get to some who will clandestinely inform other people within North Korea of what is happening both in North Korea and outside. There is, however, one dark cloud on the horizon. The political left in South Korea, if they win the possible presidential elections that may come up, may cut back or end the radio station of the North Korean defectors and try to silence them to "appease" the North Korean government. This is a real threat and a real danger that could happen.
