My name is Daniel. I was an English teacher in Seoul, South Korea, and am now a writer who has

Many people outside of the United States have been hearing about the battles
in the streets of many major cities between what is being called the "Alt Right" (alternative rightwing which
includes neo-nazis, Ku Klux Klan and white nationalist, white supremacist groups), and those on the
political left. Many people outside the United States assume that this is the only political rightwing in the
United States. In fact, it is not. The reason it is being called the Alt Right is to distinguish it from what is
known as the traditionally political American rightwing. By and large, the traditional American rightwing is
NOT racist, and will allow in all people of race, ethnic groups and religions. Many of the traditional
rightwing groups are christian, and so they work within their local churches and political parties such as
the Republican Party or within just as equally conservative political parties such as the Constitution Party
of the U.S., or the Prohibition Party. Among the more traditional rightwing organizations are the American
Conservative Union, the Arlington Group, the Christian Coalition of America, the American Family Association,
the Eagle Forum, and the Traditional Values Coalition. Open to all races and even religions, these groups
want what they call a "traditional" America based on faith, family and what they call the conservative
principles of the creators of the American Republic. Whether any of this is true about the founding of
the United States can be argued by historians, but these are the things these rightwing organizations
believe in. Unlike the Alt Right, the traditional rightwing goes through the system. They hold peaceful
marches and rallies, try to have their membership turn out to vote for candidate whose position they agree
with, and work within the political parties of their choice to influence those parties. Since these
rightwing organizations are very well-organized and have lots of money, they are able to influence
elections and government institutions in the United States. However, there is a limit to how much
influence they have, and that is why we are seeing the emergence of the Alt Right movement.
Sometimes people want drastic action.
